Body-hugging MARSALA by Biubiu!

Another great item I got from Biubiu was their MARSALA dress:

The print really appealed to me, as it's "busy" enough to keep that effect of 'one large surface' as some single-colour items can when the wearer is large, yet not so "in the face". It also comes in other colours, but I really liked the versitality of this sandy colour.

I also really like the neckline on the model: So much of my clothes seem to fall in each end of the spectra, either "too" low cut, or hardly showing any neckline.

The draping over the belly seemed like the Cross Front Pepperberry dress I've reviewed earlier, but it appears much lower on the Marsla, which I think is a good thing!

Also, notice the length! It's perfect, as it will "allow" me to have bare legs, which I never do with things shorter than knee-lenght.

So, let's try it out!

I went for a 46BBB:

I really like it! I'm actually glad that the waist seems to sit a *bit* higher on me than on the model, as this is closer to my natural waist. It really makes it an ideal figure showing dress, while the pleats make me so comfortable, no worries of VBO! I really love how it fits :)

Downside is though, that it's also quite a bit shorter on me. I keep forgetting that I'm considered moderately tall (I'm a bit over 5'8"), plus I suppose Biubiu doesn't account for the lower curves as much, so my hips probably have snatched a good bit of fabric. This length would still be *ok* for no tights, but I do wish it came just under my knee, like it was meant to.

Another thing that turned out shorter than expected: The sleeves. I do not do this short sleeves. I can pull the to be slightly longer, but I suppose because my arm is so wide just at that point they are supposed to sit at, it's just not happening. I'm ok with as short sleeves as 2/3rds of the upper arm covered, which I knew from the picture these would probably be just short of, but on me they are even shorter, so that's a major drawback. I feel like it is such a shame to put a cardigan over it, as it's asset is really how well it looks from every angle. And I've yet to find a short / pretty much sleeves only cardigan that I can stand (the cheaper ones tel to just be straight across with sleeves, which makes the bunch around the neck and arms horribly).

Despite these issues, I have in fact work it twice, and felt good in it! So I'm very happy to own it :D

Curve-hugging Portofino!

Apologies for the long breaks between posts that I've had, and probably will in future - I have started a new major, where I'm really determined to do well, so I'm putting in incredible long hours - I'm at campus for 10-12 hours every day, + all the extra work I put into it at home - and I'm loving it! :D I didn't realize how 'wrong' my previous major was for me, but now that I see how much it is possible to thrive even with so much work, I'm very happy that I changed!

Ok, enough with the personal stuff, let's talk Biubiu!

Biubiu gifted me a few items when I was doing my blogaversary, and one of those things was the Portifino Red!

We were unsure if I should go for 44BB/BBB or 46BB/BBB, and settled on the 46.

This was one of the things that I was skeptic about, especially due to the sleeves: In my experience, when sleeves goes straight into the top, instead of being separated pieces, I feel like it often looks bad on busty ladies, as it makes the arms and bust blend together, and this makes it all look bigger. But mind you, I've never tried such sleeve type where the top was specifically made with big busts in mind!

So let's see how it turned out:

Not bad! I know the "ruched front" fit from the Portimao tops that I own 2 of, and love, so this was welcome :) Though as with the Portimao, I wish they also had some way to be ruched on the back as well, because as it says at the Biubiu description of these tops, it "helps hide imperfections", and I have those (read=lumps and bumps) on my back as well! So it can make me a bit selfcouncious :b Then I just focus on the front, because really, I love the fit :D Even though I'm deffinitely one to like some cleavage, I am happy that this is not as low cut as some wrap-over styles can be, as it might have been a bit much with this super curve-hugging top, and then lots of cleavage on top:

Speaking of the wrap over part, it's a bit difficult to work! Many times I've stuck my head in and come out the wrong end :b Maybe that's just me being a derp in a shirt though!

Now, the sleeves: I'm really impressed that even though they are kimono sleeves, aka. just an extention of the top, they still manage to maintain the seperation of arms and bust! However, probably because my upper arms are so big, they also end up quite short :/ Lots of women like short sleeved tops, but I really really don't want anything shorter than a 1-2" above my elbow. This will seriously limit the use of the top for me! So far, I've managed by layering it with some thin open cardigans, but it's such a shame to cover up such a beautiful fit of the top :b Really, not to sound narcissistic, but it looks so amazing on me from the front xD

The button-down quest! Biubiu, Vichy Blue

Biubiu has blown me away with their generosity. Not only did they donate a gift in my give-away last month, they also gifted me a big package of wonderful items!! I am overjoyed by this privilege :)
My first review of these gifts will be of an item that is a big topic of discussion in the big-boob community: The button down. Can it be done? Is it even worth it to try?

As a young, sloppy student, I have not desperately needed button downs shirts, and since I quickly discovered that it wouldn't be an easy task even if I did, I disregarded the idea of getting one.

But, after becoming a bra blogger, and seeing how big of an issue it is, it has annoyed me that this just "had to" be on my "no go"-list. Not because button-downs by definition look bad on my body-type (unlike other trends: embezzled breast pockets? No thanks.. Baby-doll flowing dress? I think not), in fact, if they are well fitting, they look great on anyone. But that is the catch: If they are well fitting. And surely, that should be possible.

So when Biubiu told me if any of their new items had caught my eye, I said I really rather liked the Vichy Blue: A 3/4 long sleeved blue gingam shirt.

Kinga suggested that I might try some of items in 44BBB based on my measurements, but I said I would rather stick with 46BBB, both because some of the items are made for straighter hips than I have, plus I had just seen some Biubiu reviews from FullerFigureFullerBust where she wore 44BBB, and I'm deffinitely larger than her, so 46 seemed like a good choice for me:

I really loved the fit! I was quite worried that it was too straight for my lower half, but even though it was a little tighter there than on the waist, it wasn't anything that pulled buttons, so it was fine by me.
I was impressed by the waist-fit as well: Even though it wasn't as tight as it could have been, it seemed to define my waist quite naturally, and I felt completely comfortable in it, knowing it neither hid my waist, nor was so tight I needed to "worry" about it showing off rolls or being too tight when sitting down.

Now onto one of the most crucial points: The bust.

Here is a picture of how I would usually wear it, slightly buttoned down, seeing as I don't have anywhere that need strictly business clothes. I feel like this, combined with the slight tightness, just makes it a bit 'flirty' and thus more casual, which I like. It didn't actually feel as tight as it looks, so I think this is more due to shape, rather than it actually being too small. Here, I am wearing an Ewa Michalak S bra, which is very round, and puts a lot of the volume at the top of the breast, and I suppose the padded cups adds a bit, whereas I feel like this shirt was more fit for the typical shape of an unpadded three-piece seamed cup, which tends to be slightly pointier, as I had some puckering at the apex.
On the other pic, I've buttoned it up as one might do if you were to wear it to work. As you can see, it is looks to be quite tight in that area, though again, a different bra might well solve this.

Overall, I was really surprised by how much I liked this! I didn't expect to be able to wear a shirt with my casual wardrobe, but I suppose the 3/4 sleeves, the gingam rather than solid color or stripes, the large flip and the fact that it sat well slightly buttoned down made it much more "me" and casual. In fact, I loved it so much I swiftly brought it with me on vacation! (which is my excuse for slow blogging here in August!)

On vacation just this past week!
Stay tuned for more fab Biubiu reviews to come!! :D

Success in Biubiu!

Here we go with my newest Biubiu order!
With my last order, I learned that 44BBB might be too small, and that I really needed to keep my eyes out for stuff that would allow room for my bottom too!
Bring in the Oia and Vienna dresses: Perfect!

Unfortunately, they weren’t any in 46BBB, so I would have to wait and see if they made some more: I decided that due to the extra pleats on the Oia, I would go for that one to make sure there was room for my hips.

Just in time, as they brought out the Oia Charcoal

As you will notice, it has longer sleeves than the first Oia – some might find this good or bad. I generally really like sleeves, and will make this very useful as everyday wear, but I do feel a shorter sleeve could have lightened the look a bit – especially in a darker color like this, it can come off as being a very ‘serious’ dress.

 But let’s take a look:

I’m very happy with it J I did actually also order it in 44BBB, and I can’t stop kicking myself that I didn’t take any pictures (it was during Christmas, and in a rush to go to the post office with all my packages, I packed that up too!), but, it being a bit tighter at my bust, pulled the back tighter and thus revealed back bulges – not too bad, but I have so many clothing items already, where I get self conscious about that, and where I need to think “oh, I can only wear it if it’s a standing-up party” or “only if I can find some shapewear” or “I just have to make sure it doesn’t cling right here” etc. so I didn’t want another dress like that: In the 46BBB, I can wear it without even thinking about what I have underneath, or how I stand or sit. Very relaxing.
Though it fits really well, it of course isn’t ‘as tailored’ – I do have some loose fabric at the sleeves in various ways, and I wish it was more fitted at the underbust where I am narrower than at my waist, but that’s if I have to be really nitpicking about the fit, because overall, it great!

The skirt is very full as you can see, so there was no problem at all with my thighs and hips – this makes me think I could also go for the Vienna: it’s still a quite full skirt, but the Oia just has a bit more front-pleats.

Due to the color, though I love gray, it can need to be spiced up a bit – as you can see here, I’ve paired it with my teal leggings, for a very simple way to spice it up – though I played around with it a bit, and here are some looks it could be styled as:
I think it works pretty good for both looks! (And yes, as Vee spotted at Bratabase, that is the Morticia corset from What Katie Did! It’s a 30” that unfortunately isn’t curvy enough for me – it’s closed at the top, and all open at the bottom)

The fabric feels really really comfortable and soft, and kind of ‘sturdy’ and heavy – the feel o f quality! And the construction cannot be faulted – the seams that run down the body are flat and smooth, and it doesn't cling at the wrong places, and the skirt falls wonderfully. If I was to critique one thing, it would be that it’s almost impossible to get into! The long, thin (nicely concealed) zipper is really difficult to work on my back by myself (as it requires the fabric to lay pretty flat to zip, and when I bend my arms backwards, it can't lay flat!), and I have had to ask my neighbor for help once! It’s a bit easier to take off, which is always a relief J And check it out, pockets!

It took me a while to see that they were there, and they aren’t so big that they add bulk, but enough to have somewhere you put your hands + some coins and a cellphone!

Overall, I think I will get some good use of this dress :)

When making my order for the Oia, I also checked what else was available in 46BBB – And there we have Partimao! (comes in many colors, but only gray left in my size at the time!)
The color really struck me – it’s gray, but a bit purple-ish, which I found interesting, and figured the wrinkled fabric would show off my shape, without showing too many bulges, so I put it in my shopping cart immediately: And I’m glad I did:
It did exactly what it said on the tin ;) I found it a bit short, though, which is (part of) why it doesn't look to have so many wrinkles as on the website: I’ve had to pull it down, thus straightening it out a bit, but it still works the purpose.
I like the neckline too, as it can look a bit ‘off the shoulder’-ish, without actually revealing my bra straps.
I wish the back could also be wrinkly, because as I’ve mentioned before, the back view can really make it or break it for me! Luckily this looked pretty good, but it would have been even better had it been more wrinkled up – though that would take an entire different construction of the top: The wrinkles are due to the front piece being much longer than the back:

I love the sleeve length! I like a bit of arm coverage, but not so much that I feel ‘hidden away’ in my tops, so this is perfect J
And I have to say again, oh my, the fabric of this! I think Biubiu must make a lot of effort to find materials, because in my own experience, and in other reviews too, it’s always noteworthy how wonderful the fabrics feel!

So, all in all, I love this! My hopes is that Biubiu will make bigger stocks (they sell out so fast!) and make sure to include lots of 46BBB’s for me ;) And keep women who are curvy at both ends in mind! Because I really love the pieces they have there, but there are so many where I know my lower half wouldn't stand a chance :b

Biubiu review!

So, as promised, here is my review of my first order from Biubiu! Even though it didn’t all work out, I am really impressed, and hopefully this won’t be my last order!
First up, the Fado tops! I ordered 2 colors, Orange and Lazur!

(wow, I am impressed by how good I am at copying the way I stand!)
I ordered these in 44BBB which fits 87-91cm waist, and 116-120cm bust (and 11-115cm hips) I measure just about 86.5cm waist and 125cm bust, and 127cm hips, so this wasn’t a spot on size, and I think that too was reflected in the fit. Even though right at my narrowest point, I do fit in the size for waist, I have “extra padding” above and below this point, so it ended up being too snugger than intended, if you compare to the fit on the website:

Also, the bust was too small, you can see that it covers less on me than on the models: because my bust is wider, the wrap over is pulled further apart. Also, the ‘empire’ cut is supposed to fit right under the bust, and it didn’t on me, as you can see here, where I’ve marked where the bottom of my bra is (an Ewa Michalak plunge, so I would think that it is similar to the bras the models are wearing) Due to my tan-line, you can also see that this is a good bit lower than I normally wear, even when sun-bathing!

Now, despite it being a wee bit snug, I decided to keep both of them: First up because I am desperate for clothes that even almost fit, and because I actually really like fitted clothes, and since these ones stirred clear of my 2 biggest problems with tighter tops:
The back. There is nothing worse than finding a top that beautifully defines the waist when you see the front, but then shows of all your back-rolls (this is my main-problem with wearing waist-belts!) but magically, this top didn’t do that at all!:

About as concealed as they can be! If I was to say which of these tops were tighter, I would say the blue is perhaps. Maybe it is just because the color is brighter, and there for more noticeable, but in pictures like this, it seems it is a bit more tight (or maybe I am just twisting a bit here? Idk)

Problem #2: Sitting down! When ever I feel really good about myself, I sometimes want to wear really tight tops.. until I sit down. Then there is always some muffin top that needs to be concealed, and tight tops usually just can’t do it. But look at these tops!:
Passed that test with flying colors! (of course it won’t look as good as when standing up straight, but I will show you how bad it could have been later!)

I am very impressed how well this top worked, even when it is a size too small all over!

And it gets more points: Look at the pictures from the back again. Notice something else that is different from most sleeveless tops? The arm-wholes go all the way up to the armpit! All sleeveless tops seems to think we want to expose half our side through the arm-wholes (or, for us bigger busted ladies, half our bra-side, as the arm-whole is pulled horizontally by our bust!) Another point to Biubiu for actually thinking about this! And since we are in that area, the straps are great, wide enough to cover our wider bra straps, but the metal-clasp makes it look elegant, rather than “practical”. Btw, the metal clasp can be pushed up or down, depending on what shape you want of the wrap over front, and they don’t slide on their own. Another good point!
So, all in all, excellent tops, even when a tad too small for me!

I wore the orange one out shopping, and the sales lady kept offering me Medium clothes, even though the store had up to 2XL, so I take it that it must have looked good on me!

Next up, the Toscana Azure! I had really really looked forward to this one, I love the neck-line, and the flared out bottom-half, and the sleeves are longer than cap-sleeves, but still not ¾ sleeves which I am bombarded with normally! So I really wanted this one to work for me, but oh, not this time…

Just as with the Fado tops, it had all the sign that I needed to size up in this, if you compare the intended fit and my fit:

Here you can especially tell that my big hips play a big part in the fit. This top is quite long (I am 173cm / 5’8½” ) and had it been any longer, it would more of a tunic than a regular T-shirt.
The fabric is quite thin, and a little bit see-through if it is stretched. I am wearing the Rhea bra, where the top of the cups are brown/gold, and the rest is light blue, and you can see the color difference even on my poor-quality picture here. It is not so bad, but to me it just confirmed that this is too tight. There is a double layer along the neckline, and it is about 5cm wide, and I felt like you could see my cleavage through the shirt where the double-layer ended, so maybe there should have been double all the way? Or maybe a bigger size would have solved such issues.

I think the thin-ness of the fabric would make it an excellent summer T-shirt, nice and breezy, but this also means that contrary to the Fado tops, a too small size just won’t do.

Problem #1: The back:
I showed you an example of a good fit for the back before. Here is a bad one:

Not good! And you can also see that the sleeve is too tight. I think even if I sized up, it would be a tad bit tight still, but I can live with that, as I know that my arms really are very big, so it is not the shirts fault ;)

Problem #2: Sitting down:

No good either. This kind of thin, stretchy fabric just won’t do when it is too tight. So despite this one being my dream T-shirt in terms of design, I had to return it.

Next up is…. The Paris Noir dress!

And oh… Oh, how I loved this! Quite unexpected, I only got this because Biubiu told me it would fit bigger hips (and as you can see, my hips butt/belly are taking full advantage of the pleats!). I thought it was too nice for an everyday dress, and too boring for a club-dress, but when I tried it on, I wanted to wear it for both!

I will reveal right off, it is too small, all over, but especially on the bottom half. If this is the most bottom-friendly type they have, I fear my butt will not be very happy with biubiu. In this one, I don’t think I could sit down, and it would obviously still be tight in a 46, but none the less, I would get it, because it felt and looked sooooo goooooood!!
Even though it was also too tight on my bust and back, it still looked amazing:

I looooooooooooove how fitted it is over the bust, underbust and down to the waist. Even when it was too tight (I am wearing a quite un-lifting bra here, and yet the dress was so tight, it lifted my boobs regardless :b ) it just looked so sharp and tailored! For sure a larger busted lady could never dream of a look like this, from anywhere but a company like Biubiu!

There is an un-stretchy lining, but the waist band seems to be a bit tighter than that, and the rest of the dress is a little bit stretchy, so that is why it cuts in a bit. This would hopefully look even better in the right size. But wow, this, I have never had anything fit like this. I nearly cried having to return it. My mother suggested keeping it, as inspiration for a weightloss, but I don’t want to be beating myself up about not being able to fit it. If I do loose weight, I will get it again. Or, if it is offered in 46BBB, I will be first in line to order it! Also, note that it is not very dark-black. Here I obviously used some flash, which makes it lighter, but still, it is more like a very dark grey, imo.

(I also ordered the Fuego Violet in 42BBB as it was the last size, but it is clear that I would not be able to fit it, so I didn’t bother unpacking it)

Even though I did not get all the things I wanted from this Biubiu order, I now know what size I would be: 46BBB. Unfortuneatly, that is a size they don’t always order, and also one that is sold out quickly when they do (actually, everthing is sold out quickly. Biubiu, please have bigger stock!) Now that I know my size though, I will be less hesitant to order, so maybe I can get in there before they sell out! I also recently saw that Biubiu wrote to someone on facebook that they could request a size, so I may just do that next time I see something I must own!

Currently, I have my eye on Arles, Fado Black, Fuego Black, Etna, Alanya, Indigo City (what! Reintroduced? But I can't select sizes), Liverpool Honey, Ponti Green and more to come, I am sure!
